Biography
Lachie is an up and coming talent who has been identified in the Cricket Wellington and New Zealand Cricket pathways. He has been tipped to be a future star in New Zealand, having debuted for a strong Hutt International Boys School 1st XI (full of 17 and 18 year olds), when he was just 13. In the final of the competition that year, Lachie hit the winning runs against eventual national champions Wellington College.
In more recent years, Lachie capped off two years of captaincy at his school side with two trophies. He was the leading wicket taker in the history of the premier school cricket grade in Wellington, and has the highest amount of cricHq MVP points in the history of the competition. He finished his school career with 96 matches, 2600 runs and 155 wickets. Lachie has been selected in multiple representative cricket sides including Wellington U17, U19 and Wellington A.
Bailey has opened the bowling for Wellington A and also averaged 45 with the bat at the most recent U19 national tournament. He is a highly skilled allrounder, that also has the unique ability to bowl left arm off spin when conditions suit. His most memorable performance came in a semi final against Wellington College, scoring 95 and taking 5/17 in the same match.
More recently, Lachie captained NZ Māori Schoolboys to their first ever victory.
