WsMCC are delighted to announce that Gloucestershire and Netherlands international fast bowler Paul van Meekeren is returning to the club in 2023.
‘Meeks’ previously represented the club from 2018-2019, taking 13 wickets at an average of 26, with a best of 5/30. He has returned to the club after spending time with Durham, and having played for Corsham CC in 2022 after signing for Gloucestershire.
In the ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia 2022/23, Paul was one of the shining lights of the Dutch team, claiming 11 wickets at an average of 18, and an economy rate of just 6.38. His best figures of 3-29 coming against Zimbabwe at the Adelaide Oval.
Paul was a popular and committed member of the team during his first spell at the club, with his five wicket haul coming in a crucial match at the end of the 2019 season, helping the team maintain their status in WEPL Two after a tough season.
Director of Cricket Rob Turner is delighted to have re-signed Van Meekeren:
“Meeks had a couple of years here recently and became a popular member of the club and someone who was always willing to give back. It’s great that we’re able to attract a current international player to the club to boost a young, home grown squad.
Van Meekeren is pleased to be re-joining the club:
“I’m looking forward to returning to Weston having fond memories of my previous spell. It’s a great place to be and I’m looking forward to contributing to a young, promising side”
WsMCC are delighted to welcome Meeks back to Devonshire Road, and can’t wait to see him in action when professional commitments allow.
