The club is very saddened to hear the news that Hugh Hockey, member, former groundsman and supporter of the club and local sport more widely passed has away.

WsMCC would like to pass our sincere condolences to Hugh’s family and friends at this difficult time.

Hugh was a regular visitor to the club, always keen to know how your team had got on, whether that was the 1’s or 4th’s. If you had played away then Hugh would have a tale to tell about a game for most far flung grounds in Somerset and beyond!

Hugh always had time for a chat and a beer supporting local sport of all types and teams and our thoughts are also with his friends at Lympsham & Belvedere CC too.

Hugh was also our groundsman for several years and was a real asset to the club for his time in the role. Clubs are built on people who really care taking up these jobs and this was Hugh through and through.
