WSMCC has published the following open letter to its membership from Peter Trego:
“It’s with a heavy heart I’m going to have to let you all know that I will be unable to play for the club the coming season.
I have been offered a position within cricket which is a great opportunity for me.
Even though this is an incredibly tough decision to make being so heavily emotionally invested in the club, as you all know my livelihood for the past 24 years has been within cricket and sport and I’m sure you all understand I need to work.
That being said my connection with the club will remain and will be around to help Chris & Rob and the rest of the cricket committee in as many ways as possible… hopefully next season the other Trego’s will pick up my slack as well as the countless other talented players we have at WSMCC.
Until the next time
Tregs”
The club would like to place on record its understanding and acceptance of Pete’s decision. He remains a legend of the club and the town, and we hope to see him back at Devonshire Road in the future. We look forward to having Pete around in a social capacity moving forward, and wish him all the very best on and off the pitch in the 2023 season.
Stay tuned for further announcements from the club coming this week…
