Weston Ladies continue to go from strength to strength this season, after a successful Bubbles and Bats festival and an influx of new players, there are regularly double figures at training, and eleven players have made their debuts in the first half of the season.
We have also run two well attended u16 girls sessions, and have decided to relaunch women's hardball cricket at Weston.
Women & Girls Development Manager, Nicky Clarke said "This is a really exciting period of development for the women and girls section at Weston, we've constantly recruited since the start of the season, and are seeing some really talented players come to training. There's a great team atmosphere and it's translating into good performances on the pitch.
The team has won 3 out of 3 league games, including beating top of the table Claverham by 6 wickets. Last season was a real regroup and rebuild season following two covid impacted years, but the hard work is paying off to the extend it's realistic that we will enter a team into the Somerset T20 Blitz next season, as well as continuing to grow and support softball cricket."
Clarke continued "The club has invested heavily in women's cricket this year, we are committed to make it accessible and inclusive and support it to grow and become sustainable. We're developing a real community, and it's wonderful to see how much it's grown over the last two seasons. We're also interested in talking to potential sponsors who can help us grow even more."
Open to anyone aged 13+, hardball training launches on Friday 14th July, 18:00-19:30, with softball training following on from 19:30-21:00.
